5 Tips To Keep On Top Of Pet Hair In Your House

Some General Advice On Maintaining A Clean House With Pets

We love all pets, but we don’t love all of the hair they shed. Whether it’s dogs, cats, guinea pigs, or bunnies, most pets shed a lot of hair. It’s a natural process, but it can sometimes be difficult to manage when trying to keep your home clean. This article will cover 5 general tips on how to efficiently keep your house clean from your pets’ shedding hair.

Daily Maintenance

The most obvious, yet effective way to keep your house free of pet hair is to clean daily. Nothing too in-depth or time consuming. Just some light dusting and vacuuming will suffice. Using a dry Swifter for hardwood and kitchen floors is a quick and easy way to keep your floors free of pet hair. Try and set aside 20 or 30 minutes a day for this regular light cleaning and you will notice a huge difference.

Regular Brushing

One of the biggest favors you can do for your furry friend is to brush them on a daily basis. Some breeds of dogs (especially long haired) shed more than others. Brushing your dog on a daily basis will make your dog’s coat cleaner, softer, and less likely to shed. Try and dedicate at least 20 minutes a day to brushing your dog outside to help reduce the amount of dog hair in your house.

The Right Brush

Brushing your pet regularly is important, but it’s also important to have the proper tools to do so. We highly recommend investing in a quality brush for your daily dog and/or cat brushing. One of our personal favorite pet grooming brands is Ferminator. They offer a variety of products, but their undercoat deshedding tool is one of the best brushes on the market.

Lint Rollers

Being a pet owner is usually pretty obvious because all of your dark clothes are covered in pet hair. But, a simple solution to this problem is the lint roller. If you have pets that shed a lot, then having lint rollers around the house is a must. Invest in a value pack of lint rollers and try to keep one in every room of your home. Keeping one in your car is also a good idea.

Invest In A Quality Vacuum

Your pets won’t clean up the loose hair they leave behind, which means it’s up to you. If you want to be efficient and not spend all of your free time cleaning, then invest in a quality vacuum. Vacuums can be expensive, but buying a good quality one will pay for itself over time. When using a low quality vacuum, you may end up having to vacuum several times in one day. But, cleaning with a quality vacuum like Dyson or Bissel will require less time and effort on your part. Automated robot vacuums like Roomba and Shark are also great options for pet owners. They clean up excess pet hair even when you’re not around.

It’s Not Their Fault

It’s important to remember that shedding is a natural process and our pets can’t help it. Try not to get mad or frustrated by the consistent excess hair your pets leave behind. It’s not always easy cleaning up after our pets all of the time. But, it’s the responsibility we take on as dedicated pet owners.
